We have to go all the way back to 1964 to find the beginning of Esbjerg's ice hockey history. It was then that Esbjerg Ice Hockey Club was separated from Esbjerg Skating Club, and the ice hockey club won its first Danish championship in 1969, with a total of seven championships to its name.
In 2005, elite ice hockey became part of the EfB group, and EfB Ishockey A/S was founded. However, it was sold in 2013 when EfB decided to divest its ice hockey activities. At that time, a group of local business people decided to continue elite ice hockey in a new company, and Esbjerg Elite Ishockey A/S was born. The new company aimed to restore Esbjerg as a proud ice hockey city, and with support from sponsors and fans, they managed to reach the finals in 3 out of the first 6 seasons, resulting in two Danish championships – the most recent one in the 2016/2017 season.
